If the currency ECO is created,it is dead from its inception because member states lack political nor economic sovereignty. ECOWAS should be trying to unite with the AES to develop their own currency for the whole of Africa, if they were serious. By allowing the AES to take the lead, this would convince other countries that this endeavor will truly benefit the interest of the African people. We put in every effort to create goods and services, develop businesses and markets and in the end the European Union comes to tell us which currency, pegged to their currency with a fixed rate must be used? What kind of insult, arrogance, humiliation and disrespect is that? We design and decide for a currency and they simply come and want to take it over with their conditions? How long should we allow this master-servant relationship?

Can’t you join the great and large Nations like Russia and China with all your Resource’s? Let us chart our own ways, create our Institutions and replenish all we consider necessary? This is certainly the Path the AES is considering, which is certainly sovereign. Maintain your sovereignty on sound economic instrument independent of ECOWAS. My considered view is that your currency will be stronger and more stable than ECOWAS proposed ECO currency for obvious reason.
