My family moved to Panorama City near the Van Nuys GM Assembly Plant in 1956. So I remember this Assembly Plant from the years that I was growing up into adult life. There was also Lockheed and the Aero Space industry. In the past there was a lot of industry in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. Now all that industry is gone.
Look at the Plymouth in front of the red Camaro on the same assembly line! That’s why they closed! They were accidentally making cars for the competition! And then they started making voltswagons and Hugos! It got out of hand.
Today more people are leaving the state of California than arriving. U-hall has been offering a special program to people willing to return the trucks back to the state. If you are renting a one-way truck to California, you will get a discount as opposed to a one-way from California which will cost you a little more.
GM did NOT manufacture cars at Van Nuys, they assembled them there.

Blythe st. Intersected with the plant. It was an open air drug market.
Probably L.A Riot in 1992 forced GM out of California 😅
CARB was the issue even back then.
MAXIN WATERS was screwing this up back then too.
I remember the South Gate one. I was just a kid.
This is what is slowly happening to the film and TV industry here.
It’s a shame! I had visited this plant and also the Southgate plant and the NUMMI plant, now Tesla
California killed them all!
Pete Wilson was the republican version of Newsome who slowly began the destruction of the state
