My plant shut down in 2008 Chrysler Fenton,Missouri plant #1 south
Love these videos. Please 🙏 do a video on Van Nuys California General motors plant that closed in 1991. There are thousands still alive that remember
Remember that day clearly. Last job came down line and we had to turn in our badges and monkey suites and that was it. Now I have 20 years in Kcap and man how time flies
Strategic closing ford and Chrysler plants. They hurt STL middle class by closing all 3 plants IMO
The destructive greed of American corporations is endless. Workers mean nothing!
Thank you We all did the best we could ken dearing
Ford and Chrysler were shut down for the same reason, Management and the Union couldn't come to terms at the bargaining table. The militant attitudes displayed by each group cost the citizens of St. Louis a lot of wealth by not being reasonable with each other. GREED! Killed these two plants, and a lot of wealth fled the St. Louis economy.
lived in St. Louis more than 60 yrs, very good program the history, the Aerostar, didn't know that only made in st. louis. I do Know after the FORD plant closed, many other business closed , Hazelwood became Hazel HOOD, most of north county what was a prosperous suburb in the 60's became run down and crime filled. the general motors plant in the city of St. louis that had built the Corvette moved corvettes production to Kentucky, and the GM truck plant moved 38 miles west to Wentzville Mo. then ford Closed, then the Chrysler plant closed in Fenton 2008. St. louis was 2nd in Auto's detroit was first. there were other plants near by carter carburetor, Moog, there was a company that made seat covers, and sure other NON auto related business closed too. st. louis was becoming a 3rd world country. SAD.
Grew up in Florissant . That plant was huge . Sad it left but . Hazelwood is HazelHood now just like Florissant Flowtown
The big three car manufacturers haven’t been loyal to St. Louis even though St. Louisans has been a loyal to them.😢
Collective bargaining strikes again
Was a great job. We'd just wrapped up a major project, the Bigfoot HVAC renovation, and then… kerplunk.
I am a Toyota Man. Every person in the St. Louis Metro should only own Mazdas, Nissans(Frontier is a Great Truck), Hondas and Toyotas. The Big 3 stuck it to St. Louis why not do the same back to them!
Ford should go down in my opinion, they make faulty vehicles and don't want to honor warranty work and leave customers sitting with a bricked vehicle in the driveway.
Now you understand the devastation that the white man bring to the country no matter what he’s running he’s a destructive force give him enough time he’ll make the wrong decision to ruin the company now look forward one of the worst companies in America with all the recalls you could ever reach out because Jim Farley is a horrible horrible CEO yeah he’s not buying it. He’s getting raises he still there. See when you see. Yo you don’t value the people that make the company go by yourself and those like you this is what the NBA and the college education boom brought America they gave it the government they got The society you got now you got a whole bunch of people who can’t build make anything worth anything anymore? When it wasn’t educated, they built everything right everything good as soon as you educated them get them a couple of decades and they’ll ruin the company and the country. That’s what they’ve donethrough the government because see their ideas. Don’t stop this at the company to start with the government and they take no responsibility for anything that they do but they definitely get paid. They always make sure that happens.
Ford shut the plant down because the mayor of Hazelwood taxed Ford on MSRP price and not the production price. The mayor didn’t give the money back so Ford left Hazelwood. Ford was going to expand the plant until the mayor wrongly taxed the company. For three years Ford was wrongly taxed.
Why can't someone tell these stories with real people instead of robots?
THE AUTOMOBILE HAS MAIMED, KILLED, AND RUINED LIVES FOR OVER 125 YEARS. I HAVEN'T OWNED ONE FOR 30 YEARS.
