  1. Isn’t it interesting how the churches want to keep violations of secular laws private while adherents want to take over secular governance and break down the implicit wall of separation between church and state?

  2. In our denomination the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. We use a book for church discipline called The Book of Church Order. It is very specific and addresses the processes and procedures to address any sin issues. Having been in attendance and participation in church sessions and the regional presbytery. I can attest that our denomination takes these issues seriously and executes accountability.

  3. In my experience church leadership has taken the approach that a pastor, as an elder, is held to the same standard of having to be above reproach. I know a minister that was deposed for something that was nowhere near criminal, more a sexual matter of the heart.
In this denomination you would take an issue to your local consistory then to the classes then the senyod.

Part of the United Reformed Church in North America about 140 congregations across north America, a bit more conservative than the CRC.

  4. The best possible thing for the world would be if all religion disappeared. No two Christian churches can agree on what is true. It's entertaining to watch them bash each other. Good thing there is no "God" or he would smite all of you buffoons.

  5. The reason "Reformed" theology always eventually falls apart is because it is based on gnostic presuppositions about reality that are ready into scripture. They don't stand up and like Ptolemaic cosmology and so wheels within wheels have to be invented to rescue a complexity that has left the simplicity that is in Christ.

It's quite simple. God made us in His image and HIS image is stronger than sin so cannot be completely obliterated to cause us to fall into TOTAL depravity. And God's standard is not do some good to earn salvation but live in perfect goodness. Being able to trust Christ is therefore not eliminated by sin since it's not "doing good" by GOD's standard of goodness.

Just trust Jesus Christ for salvation. There is not special gnostic election to salvation/regeneration. It is election to good works and ultimate holiness.

    Calvinism is STUPID.

    Sovereignty conflated with determinism

Totally depraved inability to trust Christ (unless "elected" by the Calvinist definition and even then, only after their god regenerates you)

    Unconditional election of some

Particular Atonement only for those elect — Christ died for no-one else.

Irresistible Grace imposed only on those elect

Double Predestination for unsaved (not chosen by God to be able to believe) to reprobation and for saved (who were elected to be saved) to eternal life and righteous living (so if you want assurance, look to yourself and your works).
