Here's my honest question after making this one: Tiglath Pileser's deportations, Sennacherib's siege reliefs, Ashurbanipal's lion hunts sitting right next to his torture chambers, all of it was deliberate policy, carved in stone on purpose to make the empire look unstoppable.
Does that make Assyria's brutality worse than empires that tried to hide theirs? Or more honest?
Drop your answer below, I read every one
Ashurbanipal is one of history’s greatest paradoxes: A terrifying warlord who personally hunted lions and decorated his palace with depictions of psychological terror, yet also an intellectual who took pride in reading ancient Sumerian cuneiform and built the Library of Nineveh accidentally saving the Epic of Gilgamesh for modern humanity.
