  1. I find it funny that the "pro-life" groups focus so much on the gestational period without ever noticing that one of the tradeoffs humans made in evolution was a higher infant mortality rate because of head size and that a very significant percentage of fertilized eggs fail to attach to the uterine wall.

  2. So, the idea of social security is literally thousands of years old.

PS- thanks for using the word “elders”. I don’t know why this word isn’t used more. It commands respect, and is definitely preferable to “seniors”, “old people”’ or the plethora of even less complementary words. Maybe if we could all make a habit of using it more, it would result in a little more respect for those of us who’ve survived to that point.

  3. Apart from children dying i droves, hunter-gatherer life wasn't that bad. In fact, those reamaining today, despite these days knowing there is another kind of living "out there", choos to largely reamain living their traditional way.
I saw a documentary about a tribe in current day Africa. Apart from hunting and gathering, they also keep herd of cows (or whatever similar species), that they herd and in the night often keep inside the village corral. Really the only modern thing they had adopted, was mobile cellphones!😆Which is actually very understandable, given how incredibly a useful social tool this is.😄
Also, hunter gatherers on average only use some 3-5 hours a day on daily work. The rest of days are spent socializing, telling stories and playing!

Funny thing about the first tribe l wrote about, is that aparently beeing a successful hunter, was just about the sexiest thing about a man! Hunting is, for most hunter-gathering people, a high risk endeavor in terms of success. Thus gathering is the main source of sustainment. Hunted prey is a much apreciated "luxury extra".

  4. Im pretty sure im subscribed to your 57 other channels, or at least i think because they're all very similar unless someone is just literally plagiarizing shit right now lol, anyway these are interesting so i dont really give a fuck. just post more on the other accounts too then

  5. No retirement fund, no walking aids, no easy meals — survival past 40 meant the tribe actively decided you were worth the resources. Elders weren't dead weight, they were the only ones who remembered which berries killed you. 🌿 Memory was the original life insurance.

  6. Do you realize how badly history class lied to us? Sitting here in Texas and i m just stunned. Always thought every one just dropped dead at 30 back then, but finding out it was mostly just kids catching bugs makes so much smore sense. It's crazzy to think that older people were basically the tribe's only survival guide. And the guy with one arm who lived for 10 extra years because his group took care of him? Man, that actually hit hard. Makes you wonder if we even respect our own grandparents' knowledge that much anymore.

  7. 0:37 Why the hell should something that happened thousands of years ago bother us today? Life was different obviously, WE live in modern times. Please elaborate on exactly how this should bother us, today, in the 21st-century. 😂😂😂

  8. i love how this video immediately debunks the myth about prehistoric people only living to 30. its a great lesson on how statistics can be easily misunderstood due to high child mortality

  9. What's striking is that elders functioned as living memory systems. Before writing existed, losing an elder wasn't just losing a person—it was losing years of stored knowledge, patterns, and survival information. In a sense, human civilization began with biological memory long before it had external memory.

  10. Growing old in prehistoric times was a remarkable achievement. Elders may not have been the strongest hunters anymore, but they carried something just as valuable: knowledge. Their experience with food, weather, medicine, and survival could mean the difference between life and death for the entire group.
