Nice topic…I'll watch
They weren’t personal guards they were chosen for already giving a contribution to Sparta by having sons. if you goin got tell a story be a little right.
Well 2000 years later Europe (besides Poland and Hungary) are under Muslim control! Congratulations! White guilt and the lizard queen of England sat back and watched as an invasion destroys a continent
I walked that path in 1965, along with several other interested people (USA, UK, Germany). It actually had an effect on me, emotionally (I was 14 at the time). It's a long hike/climb, and it took us to what is believed to be the location of the final slaughter of the remaining Spartans (which is quite a distance from the water, which was much closer in those days).
It's amazing to walk the paths, roads, etc. that were trod so long ago by very different people; port cities are the best.
edit out everything mentioned thrice already.
I took my sleep pill so if a little W.T.F ,i hope you understand. FINALLY this is the first time the whole event was told. After the Greek win way after the 300 Spartans & many other Greeks died with the Spartans. I am glad you informed all how ALL OF THE GREEKS HUNTED ALL TRAITORS AND KILLED. The very important last part of killing TRAITORS is just as important.
So he didn't tell the robber there was a gun to shoot his family with, the robber already knew. He only told the robber where his dad was hiding the gun. That makes it way less worse.. You're right.
Throughout history everyone despises snitches

it's amazing history
Traitors can’t be trusted ever
This is a warning to all traitors. You can't hide forever, you will be found.
Ephialtes betrayed not just a path—he betrayed the memory and the Greek belief in unity. Most hauntingly, Persia used him, but also despised him. Ultimately, Ephialtes is remembered not as a man, but as the very "nightmare" in the Greek language. A chilling end, colder than any death on the battlefield.
"To be forgotten is worse." — Freya, Final Fantasy 9
History never remembers betrayal fondly.
I thought it was history that the persians knew about the way to the rear of the Spartans. Are we now teaching that they didn't know about it? I just like to stay current.
The click-bait thumbnail misleads people to believe this video covers a different fate for the traitor. Shame.
Leonidas to Ephialtes in 300. "You there Ephialtes, may you live forever." Alas, he like Judas Iscariot and Benedict Arnold will live forever but not in a way they would have wished.
Ephialtes actually wasn't a traitor. He'd taken no oath of loyalty to anyone. Was he a scumbag? Oh yeah, but not a traitor.
This is a good history lesson for the people that want socialism and communism in a free democracy
