  1. As a child I visited Mt. St. Helens volcanic park about 11 years after the eruption, and I still vividly remember the forests of fallen trees lying like matchsticks in the direction of the flow, stretching so far from the peak. My sister and I have been fascinated by volcanology all our lives as a result of that eruption.

  2. One of the first well documented pyroclastic flow disaster was the eruption of Mt. Pelee in May 1902 on the Carribbean island of Martinique. It wiped out the city of St. Pierre, killing about 33,000 people in minutes. There are several very good books as well as good videos here on YT.

  3. Well i don't know, don't live so close to a active volcano, the planet is overpopulated & destroyed by humans with our filth, so I guess people have to be thinned out, nature's selection. If you live near a active volcano, you take your chances, silly, just move away, or don't build cities there, dah.
