My grandma started working there in the 50's when it was a Fisher body plant she retired in 1992 and I remember her saying that it was the hottest spot in the city, before they put air conditioning in the building!
This picture @ 1:24 is the former transmission plant in White Marsh, which has also been shuttered a few years ago.😢

My friend bought a entire fleet of RHD export versions of the Astro/ Safari vans from GM from a canceled order that ended up going to Japan ,literally hundreds of them

In 2002 i bought a 1991 Astro van for $2800 and drove it for 17 years, for and sold it for $800 minimal repair ,just upkeep .. i made a camper out of it , the best van i had ever bought.
Peterbuilt trucks also set up a facility next to the old GM plant
I HAVE OVER 800k MILES IN BOTH THE ASTRO AND SAFARI VANS, 4 VANS SINCE 1986! I WOULD BUY A NEW ONE IG THE IDIOTS AT gm would reproduce the updated form!
