1. Bangkok is a booming metropolis of over ten million people. Deemed by many travellers as the ultimate destination, Thailand’s captivating capital also lays claim to a darker statistic: one of the highest crime rates in all of Asia.

   It’s this shadowy, more violent side of the city that the filmmakers set out to expose. Amongst their observations: corruption. Widespread and deeply ingrained at every level of society. It’s so routine that many Thais see the bribes and ‘gifts’ they are subject to pay as a kind of unofficial tax, a simple way to try and make life easier for themselves.

   This documentary was produced by Keep Shooting and directed by Guillaume Martin and Grégoire Deniau. It was first released in 2014.

4. Thank you so much for this documentary.
   I´ve came back from Bangkok last month and seeing the city from this perspective is truly fascinating.

   I did encounter some unusual sights and people, particularly on the islands in the evenings. But farangs shouldn´t go to these places at night. I suppose i´m a bit of an adventurer.

   Some areas are really rich in Bangkok, while just a short distance away, you can witness significant poverty. Interesting opposites for european guy.

   But in the end, it's a beautiful country with wonderful people.

8. You’re spreading complete nonsense. I lived in Bangkok for over a year, walked through all kinds of districts — even at night — and always felt safe. Thailand is far safer for foreigners than places like Paris, London, Dublin, or New York. What you’re showing is downright idiotic and a huge exaggeration that has nothing to do with the truth.

9. Honestly, if walk through a major city in Germany (with max 4 Million people they are all small) it feels 50x worse than in Bangkok (been there many times). 😌

23. The only dangerous place I've encountered living in Bangkok for more than a decade is on the roads. I have driven in 25 countries and never seen a dead person by the road. The first 6 months here I saw 3, including a 2 month old who fell from a motorbike in her mother's arms.

24. As someone who lives here, the only time I feel in danger is while driving at night. 😂
    Bangkok is wild, nothing like it. I'm fortunate enough to not live there, but only a couple hrs away and it's always a lot of fun when I go hangout for a week. But by day 7, I'm happy to gtfo.
