Don’t Watch The Netflix Biggest Loser Doc…

1. Ожидания и реальность 📉

0:00 — Fit for TV:

    This show is stupid.

YES! 2 IBS is how much you should be losing per week.

She is a bigger girl so at maximum 3.5-4 ibs at the start MAXIMUM, you start losing muscle as well whit calories so low.

  2. There are so many points that could be made about the show, but as soon as I found out they gave Aubrey screen time the documentary lost what little credibility it could have had. That woman is vile and does not know what she's talking about, in this case quite literally since she was neither on the show or watched it. All she sees is an opportunity to spew her own rhetoric.

  3. it’s important to hear the negative stories. It became very obvious that the producers just wanted money and went out to find a vulnerable population to exploit. With that being said, you are not “wrong” or “evil” for enjoying or drawing inspiration from the show. It’s just also important to learn about the dark underbelly of TV like this.

  4. I think it seems like the show and you aren't realizing maybe Joelle has ADHD or is neurodivergent in some way. That would make regular excercise very difficult for her. It's not just a matter of "will."

  5. I’m still watching, but having two women go up against a woman and a man for weight loss competition is INSANE.
Of course that man lost the most weight! Men drop it quick and it’s a lot faster than women due to leaner fat and metabolism differences
Actually, There are so many variables in weight loss for each individual, doing a competition is crazy unhealthy and I can’t believe I loved the idea of this show when I was a kid 😂 the 90s/early 2000s was such a crazy time for misinformation in the media with food and dieting.

  6. 28:36 so you acknowledge the show is toxic. The regime was literally not safe. You even say youre surprised no one had a heart attack then basically say joelle deserved the bullying and abuse from the coaches and her peers for struggling to keeep up… and you say she must have been dislikable because no one liked her yet they dont show us any evifence other than her struggling.

  7. I’m a 5’10” 29 year old weighing 135lbs. I personally love me a bigger woman over women my size or smaller. Ever since a kid, I loved bigger women. I refused to watch this show because I couldn’t fathom how people were okay with this worldwide humiliation. I understood they were unhealthily overweight and at risk of death, but I couldn’t see the ugliness and disgust that everyone else saw. Jillian Michaels always pissed me off when I would walk past the TV when my family was watching this.

  8. What a strange defense of the biggest loser. Someone from my hometown was on it and won. It's not sustainable, he regained all the weight and MORE after the show. This show was as much about weight loss and health as Flavor of Love was about finding him a real wife.

The biggest loser was about entertainment and making money full stop. The impression you give that they actually made this show from a caring place is laughable. Losing 15 lbs a week is unhealthy, dangerous and unsustainable. Yikes.

  9. "I'm looking at everyone else; they're struggling to breathe, they're throwing up"
Even I know that you're not supposed to push yourself that fucking hard…

Wtf was the point of Aubrey's interview?? She didn't know shit. Contributed nothing to the documentary. What was the point?

  10. I must say that the biggest loser is totally unethical. Regardless of intentions on helping people, they made it a spectacle which put people’s health at risk. period. Sure you can say these people signed up themselves, no one forced them. But come on. It’s the early 2000s. Skinny wasn’t just in— people would DIE for it. The producers, the trainers, everyone involved owe every single contestant an apology for not having their best at heart. This show never should’ve aired.

  11. 9:25 That is not unhealthy weight loss if it came from adjusting their diet and exercising. There is nothing wrong with rapid weight loss if done properly. I feel this myth of an unhealthy rate of weight loss is some BS perpetuated by the pseudoscientists in Big Health. I started at 235 lbs and lost a pound a day for two months simply by quitting drinking and trash food. I switched to an animal-based clean keto diet and learned to cook for myself, eating one meal a day. Not only did the fat melt away, but my muscle mass increased and hormones settled to where they ought to be. I have a little lose skin, sure, but you're gonna have loose skin no matter how fast or slowly you lose the weight.

  12. I’m so glad i ran into this vid. I watched all the seasons and loved the show, while admitting it had issues, as you mentioned.
I saw the trailer of this “documentary,” and immediately knew it was just going to trash the show with butthurt contestants.
I’m glad i didn’t invest any time on that crap documentary. Thanks for your opinion. I agree with everything you said.

  13. Have you guys ever read the back of your morning cereal box it is loaded with SUGAR AND THEN YOU HAVE YOUR STARBUCKS WITH MORE SUGAR!! OUR FOOD IS POISON AND BANNED IN OTHER COUNTRIES. ASK YOURSELFS WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS WEIGHT EPIDEMIC THE GOVERNMENT!!! THE FDA THEY ALLOW THE POISON. THEY WANT TO KILL US SLOWLY LIKE RATS.

  14. Naaaah bad take here, it's perfectly reasonable to have a fat advocate talk about a fatphobic show. She doesn't say she didn't watch it, she says she doesn't watch it regularly. I don't think there is any defending this show. Those contestants that we loved were being driven into something incredibly harmful. Losing weight in the way shown in this show will not help people to live longer.

  15. I think a really big issue of modern conversations surrounding weight loss and even body positivity is that, in some circles, weight loss is loomed at as a completely negative thing that toxic communities are forcing upon people, and while, yes that CAN be the case, a lot of time there are genuinely obese folks whose lives could turn around if they lost weight. Losing weight is so hard. It IS inspirational and it can be necessary. If something were to happen to my father where he needed to run for his life, he would not be able to because of his weight. O'Neil found happiness in exercise and weight loss despite his hardships. On the other side of the coin, body positivity is important. We shouldn't teach little girls the toxic rhetoric that was forced upon us growing up. We should celebrate healthy, fat bodies. There was a lot of toxic community surrounding weight loss for many years in the 2000s/early 2010s, but I think we reached a happy medium point in the late 2010s when body positivity was celebrated, but weight loss was as well. We've lost that. All that to say, this show was toxic, but inspirational and Aubrey doesn't know jack shit.

  16. I enjoyed The Biggest Loser and don’t really feel bad for the contestants, especially ones after the first couple of seasons when the show had been on for a while. They saw people being pushed so hard they puked and stuff. They saw the trainings yelling. They knew what they signed up for. Joelle is just a cry baby.

  17. "if i had that level of audacity, it would actually change my life" is now part of my lexicon. but also, Aubrey Gordon strongly reminded me of your previous videos about fat activists like Virgie Tovar. it's not just audacity, but also a strong commitment to her own conviction that it's not even worth trying to make any type of change, and everyone who chooses to do so is just being abused or brainwashed.

  18. hot take: you don't really need to watch this show regularly to know it's used to justify and empower fatphobia. you can see a few clips and get the jist very quickly. turning weight loss and body shaming into a reality show was a money-making scheme, no one cared about making fat people's lives better or easier. it's really as simple as that
