1. A 19 year-old Bosnian Serb named Gavrilo Princip assassinated the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, Archduke Ferdinand, on 28 June 1914.
2. Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. (The Serbian government probably had no idea what Gavrilo Princip was planning.)
3. Because Russia had an alliance with Serbia, Russia declared war on Austria-Hungary.
4. Because Austria-Hungary had an alliance with Germany, Germany declared war on Russia.
5. Because France had an alliance with Russia, France declared war on Germany.
6. Because France was now Germany's enemy, Germany tried to invade France through southern Belgium (Wallonia).
7. Because Britain had an alliance with Belgium, Britain declared war on Germany.
8. French forces mostly forced Germany's forces to northern Belgium (Flanders), and that's why so many WW1 deaths happened in Flanders.
9. There were also a lot of WW1 deaths in northern France (across the border with Belgium), primarily the First Battle of the Marne, the Battle of the Somme, and the Battle of Cambrai, among others.

И все решили, что и будущие войны могут быть такими же. Главное внушить через пропаганду у населения супер пупер патриотизм и уверенность в быстрой победе. Веру в непобедимость своей армии. И это удалось по полной, даже сами заказчики свято поверили в это. Никто и в мыслях недопускал возможности затяжной окопной войны. То есть лёгкость в мыслях необыкновенная.
У всех в мозгах сидели мальтузианские теории о стремительном росте населения и связанном с этим нехваткой продовольствия. Все были тупо уверены, что скоро истощаться запасы железной руды и будет крах. Поэтому считалось крайне необходимым захватывать и удерживать ради ресурсов колонии и территории, жизненное пространство.
Все мыслили категориями прошлого, в том числе и прошлыми войнами.
Из этого вытекала допустимость и даже желательность и необходимость войны.
К сожалению подобный образ мышления у многих сохранился до сих пор. История ничему не учит.

Having grown up still in the long shadow of WWII and the Holocaust, I learned very little about the Great War. I knew it was about greed. Later I learned that this war was inevitable. Poland had disappeared completely along with smaller countries like Albania, etc. But I had no idea about England, France or least of all, the U.S.A.
They wanted an Anglo-American New World order run by Jews. They had to get rid of Germany first though. They succeeded.
