Unfortunately, there are not many Europeans alive today that remember what Americans did for them in their hours of desperation and need. Let alone the liberation of their nations from tyranny at the cost of American blood and treasure. Europe has become a thankless den of takers, too consumed in their own political insanity to even save themselves.
Another wonderful story of America saving people during terrible times by Germany. Thank you for sharing!

The real suffering was in Holland (2 of 13 provinces along the coastline) with 40% of the Dutch people. They stored food/fuel for the strong winter (1944), which was taken away by the Germans for the East-front (Russia). Most families in Holland, during that winter, have seen family members die of hunger in front of their eyes. Not so much in Wageningen (a bridge too far) where there are more farms with food.
The pic is clearly staged. Look at the cheeks of the children they look healthy and alert. They don't have "water bellies". Even the people in-line are unlikely, not happening if your live depends on it. Even the shoes look way too clean and polished.
The CANADIANS freed Holland in the following spring of 1945 (ending like 90% of the suffering, which had happened in the main citties in Holland).
Of course, CANADIANS are (North) Americans, but they are NOT the US. Which seems more relevant these days.
Don't assume the 90% ending of that suffering as an US effort. It sounds disgusting.
You either have respect or you don't. If you don't have it, you will never understand what it is.
Not accusing, just explaining how awful it sounds to the people, who actually suffered it (my parents) and explained it to me, what it was really like.
Normal people becoming criminals (thieves) to survive. Going completely numb caused by hunger. Some just sitting there waiting to die.
That caused a lot of hate against "Moffen" (Germans) in Holland. There still is. Especially in the main cities, during football.
